The Waynesburg, Pennsylvania community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jessie James Orbin Jr., an accomplished wrestler, respected team captain, and cherished son, brother, and friend who passed away after sustaining critical injuries in a motorcycle accident on June 14, 2026. His death has left family members, teammates, coaches, classmates, and supporters devastated as they remember a young man whose impact extended far beyond athletic competition.
According to family members, Jessie suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in the crash. Despite medical efforts, the injury was determined to be unsurvivable. Waynesburg University later confirmed his passing, honoring his legacy and expressing condolences to those who loved him.
Jessie was widely recognized as one of the most successful wrestlers in Waynesburg University history. As captain of the Yellow Jackets wrestling team during the 2025–26 season, he built an extraordinary career record of 107 victories and 25 losses. His accomplishments included two Presidents’ Athletic Conference championships, PAC Outstanding Wrestler honors, and an impressive 38-match dual-meet winning streak. His excellence earned him recognition as the university’s Male Athlete of the Year on two occasions.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Jessie was admired for his leadership, humility, and commitment to those around him. Teammates and coaches remember him as someone who led by example, consistently encouraging others to work harder, believe in themselves, and strive for excellence both on and off the mat.
Away from wrestling, Jessie had a deep appreciation for horse racing and worked as a groom at The Meadows harness racing track, continuing a family tradition established by his father. His strong work ethic and determination allowed him to achieve personal goals, including purchasing the motorcycle he proudly owned before the tragic accident.
Jessie is survived by his father, Jessie James Orbin Sr., stepmother Kristyn Orbin, siblings Haley Orbin, Raelynn O’Donnell, and Ryan O’Donnell, along with many extended family members, friends, teammates, and supporters. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brianna Orbin, whose passing from cancer in 2017 profoundly shaped his life.
